Heathrow Express services suspended on busiest travel day

Sunday, 21 Dec, 2012 0

Passengers trying to get to Heathrow on the busiest day of the Christmas rush face severe disruption today as the Express train service from central London has been suspended.

Trains from Brighton to Gatwick have also been severely disrupted due to a signal failure on the route. A limited service is running from Brighton, causing delays of up to a 90 minutes.

Services from Gatwick to central London are stopping at East Croydon and Clapham Junction, adding to journey times.

A message on the Heathrow Express website blamed the total suspension of its trains this morning on unplanned engineering work by Network Rail in the Acton and Stockley areas.

Heathrow Express has given no estimated time for the resumption of services between Heathrow and Paddington railway station. It simply said: " We apologise for any disruption that this may cause to your journey."

A message on the Nationl Rail website indicated services in the west London area would be disrupted until 15:00hrs.
