Hilton introducing Home2 Suites brand to China
Hospitality giant Hilton and Funyard Hotel Investment (Asia) have signed a strategic agreement to develop up to 1,000 Home2 Suites by Hilton across China.
It expands on an existing cooperation between Hilton and Funyard parent Country Garden Group.
Introducing the brand in China represents the first major expansion in the extended stay market for Hilton outside of North America.
"We are delighted to have continually strengthened our cooperation with Country Garden over the years, with six Country Garden-owned hotels now operating or in the pipeline that are currently managed by Hilton," said Qian Jin, Hilton area president, Greater China and Mongolia.
"In light of the current climate, we expect domestic tourism to be a key pillar of China’s economy and hospitality market."
Home2 Suites by Hilton is an upper midscale brand and will plug a gap in the midscale hotel segment in China, Hilton says.
Funyard Hotels & Resorts operates eight hotel and serviced apartment brands, including Country Garden Phoenix, Country Garden Holiday, Funyard, Blessfun, Beelan and Kylin.
Home2 Suites by Hilton has more than 400 hotels open across the US and Canada.
