Historic NZ lodge back in business next month
Otahuna Lodge, one of New Zealand’s most important residences, will re-open on January 10 after the completion of repairs to damage caused by the 7.1-magnitude Canterbury earthquake in September.
The 115-year old manor house sustained significant damage, primarily to its 11 original chimneys.
“We are fortunate that the Lodge incurred no structural damage,” said joint managing director, Hall Cannon.
“All seven of Otahuna’s suites have been restored to their previous condition, with interior furnishings and artworks unaffected by the quake.â€
The 30 acres of botanic gardens surrounding the property were not affected by the earthquake.
Additionally, detailed information on the recovery process can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/otahuna.
