Hitchens no longer part of UK Travel Awards
Jonathan Hitchens has parted ways with fellow management of UK Travel Awards, the organisers of the British Travel Awards and other industry events.
UKTA managing director Lorraine Barnes Burton issued a notice today explaining that Hitchens is no longer employed by the group and “as such, is not authorised to act on behalf of the company or the events it operatesâ€.
She said all enquiries should instead be directed to herself or to marketing director Jane McArthur.
The notice also said the British Travel Awards would be held on the Thursday before World Travel Market this year, instead of on the last night of the exhibition.
Last year’s event caused some controversy because the entertainment included burlesque dancing.
“The categories for nomination, as well as details of how you can book your tables online, will be posted on the new look website in late April www.britishtravelawards.com. As they say, it is business as usual, here at BTA Towers!†said Barnes Burton.
