HK tourism commissioner to take over as interim boss of Ocean Park
Hong Kong’s Tourism Commissioner Joe Wong Chi-cho will take the helm at the loss-making Ocean Park theme park on an interim basis as it goes through a planned restructuring. He will spend about six months as park chief. Current park CEO Ysanne Chan steps down from the position on 1 May but will stay as managing director.
Ocean Park secured government funding of HK$6.8 billion (US$874 million) last month to relaunch the business with a different focus as a leisure and retail destination offering similar education and conservation activities. It will outsource some of us theme park attractions.
