HLX to pay agency commission
TUI’s German no-frills airline, Hapag-Lloyd Express (HLX) is offering a flat commission to agents for selling its flights.
The airline says it will pay UK agents £5 for every one-way ticket sold on its routes from Manchester, Newcastle and Dublin to Germany.
Chief executive, Wolfgang Kurth said: “Low-cost airlines prefer to sell tickets directly to their customers through the Internet. Here at HLX, we want our customers to save money and book wherever and whenever they want.
“Throughout Europe, plenty of people prefer to trust their local Travel Agent. So, it makes great commercial sense for HLX to build the same close relationship in the UK as it has in Germany and the rest of Europe.”
HLX has also launched a dedicated trade section on its website where agents can register to receive their monthly commissions (www.hlx.com/en/agent).
