Holiday price must include security charge, says ABTA
ABTA has decided that all agents must now include the tour operators’ security charge in the basic price of a holiday.
According to the ABTA Code of Conduct, all non-optional extras must be included in the headline price. However, following the 11 September terrorist attacks, tour operators introduced an extra £7 security charge, which ABTA deemed could be listed separately.
However, a spokeswoman for ABTA told TravelMole: “Agents have had enough time to incorporate the charge.”
New regulations regarding split contracts will also come into effect from 8 October. The changes mean that agents selling a combination of flights and accommodation which has not been packaged by another ATOL-holder, will need their own ATOL.
