Holland marks milestones for meeting planners
Holland is reaching out to meeting planners with a number of significant anniversaries in the country throughout 2013, the oldest of which is anniversary of the canal ring in Amsterdam, which turns 400 years old. Next year also marks the 200th anniversary of the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
Other birthdays include the 40th anniversary of the Van Gogh Museum; 125 years of both the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra; the 175 year birthday of the Artis Zoo, the 300th anniversary of the Treaty of Utrech and the 100 year mark of The Peace Palace in The Hague.
Since the canals in Amsterdam are a focal point of the celebrations, many events will take place on catwalks throughout the city’s famed canal district. The official kick-off for Amsterdam 2013 will begin in the second week of January with a special concert series at the Concertgebouw.
