Homeworkers to be allowed greater say in ABTA affairs
Homeworkers are to be allowed to serve on ABTA’s Council of Regions and regional committees for the first time.
Members voted in favour of the move at this week’s annual general meeting.
There are currently 546 homeworkers employed by ABTA members. The association said the decision to allow staff of managed branches to serve on the Council of Regions and regional committees would allow ABTA to engage more closely with the increasing number of homeworkers and enable them to bring their expertise and experience to the association.
Members also voted to allow any director that is appointed to the Board, along with the elected chairman, to serve three terms of two years rather than two terms only.
It said: "The intention of this is to better retain the expertise that a director will have built up over a number of years serving on the Board.
"Those directors that are elected, rather than appointed, to the Board can serve for as many terms as they continue to be elected as is currently the case."
