Hot water over beach behavior

Monday, 14 Jul, 2009 0

The most common beach violations are hogging chairs, urinating in the water and littering.

The most annoying complaints are about loud music and smoking.

So say TripAdvisor readers when asked what matters most at the beach and at the pool, where there are few posted rules of behavior.

Almost 84 percent think holding chairs for someone else is bad behavior.

"My bugbear is when people throw a towel over one of the highly sought-after sun lounges/cabanas, and then go AWOL," complained one respondent. Smokers came in second at 82 percent.

As for attire, more than two thirds think it’s a big deal for women to wear revealing bikinis while slightly less say the same for men and Speedos.

One respondent was irritated by people who “either go topless or wear tiny little dental-floss bikinis on the beach or by the pool.”
