Hotel offers free reindeer parking

A new hotel is offering a rather tempting sweetener to potential guests – free parking for reindeer.

Unsurprisingly, the hotel is not in a Mediterranean resort or on the Gulf Coast of Florida, but in the northern Russian city of Nadym, where reindeer are not out of the ordinary.

The online news provider Ananova reports that the hotel is opening in time for a northern sports competition due to be held later this month; the competition reportedly includes the sport of reindeer racing.

The 15-room hotel reportedly has a special parking lot for reindeer, next to the spaces reserved for snowmobiles.

A spokesman for the hotel reportedly said that the intention was also to cash in on one of the region’s biggest industries – reindeer breeding, adding: “We are hoping for lots of guests – and, of course, their reindeer.”
