Hotel room of the future
Marriott International unveiled a prototype of its new look-of-the-future guest rooms in Washington, DC. J. W. Marriott Jr., chairman and ceo of Marriott International, said:
“These rooms have a whole new look and feel.”
The rooms were inspired by the Park Lane Marriott in London. The style is described as “timeless sophistication that is warm and inviting.”
A key component of the room is new bedding, which features a feathered mattress topper, 300-thread-count sheets and other bedroom amenities.
The new room also has state-of-the-art technology with a 32” flat panel television and advanced speaker systems. There’s also a custom designed pivoting desk and a high-back ergonomic chair.
Mr Marriott said the new room designs are part of the company’s effort to bring more variety to its portfolio of hotels and resorts.
He said a test showed that 95% of those using the room liked it enough to dramatically increase their stays.
