Hotel shares buck downward trend
Most travel and tourism shares lost ground yesterday as London’s main equity indices went into reverse.
The FTSE 100 index dropped 51.2 points to end the session at 4524.5, while the FTSE 250 lost 50.9 points to close at 6311.3.
Hotel groups managed to move against the downward flow; Hilton added 4.5p to close at 254p and Intercontinental gained 12.5p to end the day at 536.5p. The Guardian attributes the rises to a tip from the Swiss investment bank UBS.
Lastminute.com dropped 12.75p to finish the session at 192p.
