Hotelbeds: NYC still key destination for German market
The Big Apple remains a big draw for inbound German travelers according to latest data released by B2B platform Hotelbeds Group.
A traditional summer destination for the German market, New York demand has grown significantly from last year and is the company’s second most reserved destination this summer.
Las Vegas is also a top destination this year for Germans.
"According to bookings via our bedbank portfolio Germans are showing higher interest in holidays than this time last year, perhaps reflecting the recent positive economic trends in Germany. Long haul travel is once again a trend for German travellers and perhaps this year´s surprise," said Carlos Munoz, managing director Bedbank, Hotelbeds Group.
Asia is also showing double digit growth with Bali, Thailand and Japan all seeing strong booking volumes, Munoz said.
These gains have offset a decline in short haul European city trips including London and Barcelona.
The Hotelbeds portfolio comprises the Hotelbeds, Bedsonline, Tourico Holidays and GTA brands, and connects more than 60,000 travel trade partners in over 200 countries.
