Hotels, resorts offering half-off sales
It may be shaping up as the year of the half price deal: Both Orbitz and Hilton are offering up to 50 percent off at hotels and resorts world-wide.
For trips booked now through Feb. 14 on Orbitz.com, travelers can save up to 50 percent on thousands of hotels in destinations that include Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Europe, the company says.
Deals include 60 percent off an all-inclusive stay at the Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island in Jamaica and a 48 percent discount at the RIU Palace Macao in the Dominican Republic.
The biggest discounts will be marked with an "On Sale" label. Sales are subject to availability, and minimum-stay requirements and blackout dates may apply depending on the hotel.

Guests who book Hilton hotel rooms in January can save 50 percent off weekend getaways throughout the year at participating hotels in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
Guests can save up to one-third off weekend rates in North America, South America, Central America, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean at participating Hilton, Doubletree, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites and Homewood Suites brands.
“Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of brands is giving a reason for families and friends to reserve all their weekend getaways for the year by January,” said Jeff Diskin, Senior Vice President, Customer Marketing, Hilton Worldwide.
To take advantage of the January Sale, guests at the Hilton Web site must pre-purchase between January 1 and January 31 of this year, and receive the discounted rate for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night stays throughout 2010, according to the hotel chain.
Select hotels may offer Thursday night discounts as well. All reservations must be booked at least three days in advance.
