Hotels working with trade to help guests
While the 24-storey Grand Hotel Chanceller continues to sink and sway following Tuesday’s earthquake in Christchurch, other hotel groups in the city are awaiting to inspect possible damage to their properties
IHG is in the process of contacting everyone who has an immediate booking at its Christchurch hotels, advising against travel to the disaster-affected region and where appropriate, organising accommodation at IHG hotels in other parts of the country.
Cancellation fees for bookings at IHG’s three Christchurch hotels are being waived at this time.
IHG is also working with business travel agents, wholesalers, tour operators, corporate event managers and other intermediaries and partners, to identify the needs of individual clients and assist with reorganisation of their Christchurch travel plans where possible.
IHG’s Christchurch telephone lines have been diverted to the Group’s regional call centre, where a team has been dedicated to managing bookings at its hotels in the city.
Anyone looking to cancel or reorganise a booking at any of IHG’s three Christchurch hotels should contact 138 388.
Christchurch conference booking holders can call 1800 456 749 from Australia and 0800 080 068 from New Zealand, or contact your IHG account manager.
The Marque Christchurch has sustained some structural damage, however the building appears to be secure.
All guests and staff have been accounted for and no injuries were sustained.
The Marque Christchurch management is working in a collaborative effort with other hotel management teams to assist the operations of those hotels remaining open in Christchurch.
