Huge crowds embrace World Expo
SHANGHAI – More than 33 million Shanghai World Expo tickets have been sold, according to the latest statistics.
As of Thursday evening, a total of 902,300 people had visited the Shanghai World Expo Park, 200,000 of them on the opening day, May 1.
A spokesman from the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination said even though the Expo lasts for 184 days, ticket holders should consider coming early to avoid huge crowds expected before the end of the event.
In related news, Shanghai will see the entry of approximately 3,700 hotels rooms from upscale hotel projects during the Shanghai World Expo, ending October 31.
The latest addition of upscale hotels in Shanghai included the 682-key Grand Melia Shanghai and 501-key Marriott Changfeng Park which opened in February.
In addition, the 362-key Conrad Shanghai and 400-key W Shanghai Pudong are expected to open in July 2010 and September 2010, respectively.
