Hyatt launching new loyalty program

Hyatt Hotels Corp is launching an all-new loyalty progam replacing the existing Hyatt Gold Passport program.

The World of Hyatt program will officially roll out on March 1 2017 and will have three completely new tier levels.

They are called Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist and members can move up through the tiers based on either qualifying nights or base points.

For entry level Discoverist guests need to accrue 10 qualifying nights or 25,000 base points while top level Globalist members require 60 qualifying nights or 100,000 base points.

Spending on dining and spa treatments also goes toward base points and guests will earn a free night when they stay at five different Hyatt brands.

Hyatt currently operates 12 brands.

"It will provide very compelling benefits at every level of the program. There are more ways to experience Hyatt and get benefits from that than there were in the existing program," said Hyatt Hotels CEO Mark Hoplamazian.

Hyatt Gold Passport will continue until the end of February and points earned from January 1 will go towards their status in the new World of Hyatt program.

"There’s something in it for everyone whether you stay with us once a week or once a month. We believe it will be a seamless transition into the new program," said Jeff Zidell, Hyatt senior vice president.
