IDB launches Tourism Sustainability Scorecard for private sector projects in Latin America and the Caribbean
The IDB has developed the Tourism Sustainability Scorecard http://www.iadb.org/news/detail.cfm?lang=es&id=5426
as an innovative instrument to rigorously examine the various dimensions of tourism sustainability in the context of evaluating investment proposals in the sector.
It has been specifically designed for the private sector, but it can be used more broadly by government entities responsible for tourism, the environment, and foreign direct investment, as well as by other tourism stakeholders.
It is applicable to all destinations and types of tourism, and it includes 52 criteria with their respective indicators.
Last but not least, the Scorecard is based on the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC).
