IHG introducing Kimpton brand in Japan
Hotel giant IHG is bringing the Kimpton boutique brand to Japan.
Kimpton Tokyo Shinjuku is slated for a 2020 opening after a deal was signed with owner Tsukada Global Holdings.
The 162-room property will feature dining outlets, meeting space, a wellness studio and a wedding chapel.
"It’s wonderful to see the Kimpton brand gaining such momentum in Asia and across the globe. This hotel’s thoughtful approach to design will highlight the best of Tokyo’s vibrant Shinjuku district, providing truly unique guest experiences," said Kenneth Macpherson, IHG’s CEO of EMEAA.
Japan is the newest country for Kimpton after recently announcing its entry into Greater China and Southeast Asia.
Kimpton currently has 66 hotels open globally, with a further 20 in development, including Bali, Taipei, Sanya and Shanghai.
"We are very proud to continue our strong partnership with IHG and introduce the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand to Japan. With construction having commenced and completion expected in early 2020, we will be well-positioned to take advantage of the increased domestic and international luxury tourism in the lead up to Tokyo 2020," said Masayuki Tsukada, president and CEO of Tsukada Global Holdings.
