IHG signs first voco hotel for New Zealand
Global hotel group IHG has inked a franchise agreement to introduce the first voco hotel in New Zealand.
The partnership with Pro-invest will see the 200-room voco Auckland City Centre open in 2021.
It is located at the corner of Albert and Wyndham Streets in the central business district.
It will share facilities on the same site as the 294-room Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre.
These include an all-day restaurant and bar, and a fitness centre.
The two hotels will have separate entrances.
"With the momentum voco has created since its launch, we are delighted that Pro-invest has taken the opportunity to realign their Even project with the new sustainability-focused voco brand," said Leanne Harwood, IHG MD – Australasia and Japan.
IHG is also opening its first Intercontinental brand hotel in Auckland in 2022.
The voco brand launched in 2018 and is present in Australia’s Gold Coast, Yarra Valley, Hunter Valley, Melbourne and Sydney.
IHG currently has 51 hotels open across four brands in Australasia.
