India issues rules for carrying disabled air travellers
India regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued new draft guidelines for airlines carrying customers with disabilities.
It responded to the recent backlash over the ‘inappropriate handling’ of a passenger by Indigo, which was subsequently fined.
Airline should not refuse travel to any person on the basis of disability. If an airline believes the health or wellbeing a passenger will be adversely impacted in-flight, the passenger should first be looked at by a doctor.
