Indian pilots urged to confess shonky qualifications
India’s budget airline IndiGo has asked its pilots to own up if they have submitted fudged documents to secure employment with the airline.
“We are internally scrutinising our pilots’ records of documents for authenticity,†said an Indigo spokesman.
The airline has sent an internal email to its pilots urging them “to fully disclose…any discrepancy in any of the documents submitted by youâ€.
Last month, the Delhi crime branch arrested an IndiGo pilot for flying without proper documents.
As the scam unfolded more pilots were arrested, as were officials of the government authority which conducts examinations for commercial pilot licences and issues mark sheets.
The three airlines whose pilots have been caught till now are Air India, SpiceJet and IndiGo, reports the Economic Times of India.
IndiGo has 412 pilots on its roll of which 32 are women.
