IndiGo joins IATA
India’s largest carrier by market share has finally joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as a full member.
It becomes the fourth IATA member in India after Vistara, SpiceJet and Air India.
This membership will help IndiGo align to global practices developed by IATA and will further strengthen the airline’s partnership portfolio, IndiGo said.
IndiGo has been an IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) registered airline and an IATA Clearing House member.
"This partnership will not only help us share best practices, but also be a facilitator in our dream of building the best air transportation system," said IndiGo chief executive, Ronojoy Dutta.
It came a day after the airline made headlines with a huge new Airbus order for 300 new jets.
It has a near-50% domestic market share in India and flies to 23 international destinations in Asia and the Middle East.
It is also eyeing Europe for its next phase of international growth.
The global trade group represents more than 290 airlines which generates more than 80% of global air passenger traffic.
