Budget airline IndiGo could be on the cusp of launching its first routes to Europe.

According to Times of India, the airline could start flying to London via Central Asia.

It has been looking at Tbilisi and Baku, capitals of Georgia and Azerbaijan, as a transit point for Europe flights and has held talks with airport authorities in Tbilisi.

It reports London Gatwick flights could be launched by next summer.

IndiGo has also being mulling Istanbul as a transit point but may be put off by higher airport fees there.

The airline recently converted an order for 125 Airbus A320 jets to the longer range A321 Neo and currently has a total of 150 Neos on order.

It takes delivery of the first A321 Neo this month.

IndiGo has been ramping up its international network with new routes set to launch later this week to Phuket and to Hong Kong in December.

The largest Indian carrier by market share, IndiGo serves 11 international destinations and operates more than 1,000 flights daily across India.
