Industry finally gets ATOL regulations
ABTA is busy working through new ATOL regulations, finally released by the Civil Aviation Authority on Friday.
Simon Bunce ABTA director of legal affairs, said further guidance, alongside guidance on Package Travel Regulations, will be given to members ‘as soon as possible’.
"We are pleased to see that the Government and the CAA have responded to industry concerns raised during the consultation and has dropped or delayed a number of the initial proposals, he said.
"That doesn’t detract from the fact however that this legislation has come out a mere three weeks before it takes effect."
The new regulations come into force on July 1, although the CAA has promised travel businesses a three-month grace period before fully enforcing them.
