InterContinental return to Belgrade
InterContinental is to return to one of its former properties in Belgrade after the chain pulled out of the city following the outbreak of the Balkans war.
Almost £15 million will be spent renovating the hotel by the current owners International CG dp Beograd before InterContinental take up the licence on November 1.
The 383 room, five star hotel will be privatised at the end of 2006.
InterContinental said the hotel will capitalise on Belgrade’s resurgence as the commercial hub of the Balkans and target business and leisure travellers.
“The re-opening of the InterContinental hotel in Belgrade is another important step in developing and expanding our brand portfolio across Eastern Europe,” said Europe chief operating officer Jennifer Fox.
