International tourism soaring in Atlanta
Why is international tourism on a strong roll in Atlanta?
“A weak dollar, new direct routes from worldwide cities on Delta Air Lines and buzz about the latest attractions are bringing new international visitors to Atlanta,” answers the city’s Business Chronicle.
Last year, the number of foreign visitors flying in to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport increased by 54% over the previous year.
That was more passengers than any other American city, said the Department of Commerce’s Office of Travel and Tourism Industries.
This year’s numbers are expected to be even higher.
The move is positive for tourism in Atlanta.
International visitors stay longer and spend more. They visit an average of 10 days and spend 61% more than domestic travelers.
