‘It’s better by train’, Virgin tell BA passengers
Virgin Trains has renewed hostilities with British Airways after staff staged a marketing event on a BA flight.
A team from the rail operator, including a dwarf wearing a t-shirt claiming “shorter journey times on Virgin Trains”, boarded an early morning flight from Manchester to London.
The team also included a man in a chef’s hat promoting Virgin Trains’ breakfasts.
According to the website Brand Republic, Virgin claimed BA staff attempted to prevent their rivals from boarding the flight and tried to stop passengers seeing the T-shirt by standing in front of it.
A BA spokeswoman was quoted as saying it was “good to see Virgin has realised the most efficient way of getting its employees from Manchester to London is on the BA shuttle.”
