‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines’ slogan to be replaced

The Philippines Department of Tourism said it plans to ditch the ‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines’ marketing slogan.

Tourism media director Ina Zara-Loyola said it will be replaced by a new slogan next year.

"The direction of DOT is to work on a new marketing slogan, one that will reflect the new administration’s thrust and the changes happening under the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte," she said.

"Our partners may rest assured that we will have consultations to acknowledge their valuable inputs."

‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines’ had gained global recognition since it was launched in 2012.

DOT secretary Wanda Teo first hinted a change was likely during a recent trip to Cebu, the Philippine News Agency reported.

"It is normal to change the tourism brand when a new administration takes over, Teo remarked;

Teo also said the country is on track to meet its target of six million tourist arrivals in 2016.

"For 2016, our target is six million. So far, as of July we have already hit more than half. We must shoot for the stars and maintain an upward trend in terms of visitor arrivals and revenues for the benefit of all stakeholders," Teo said.

Arrivals for the January to June period grew 13% compared to 2015.
