ITT names Student of the Year
The ITT has awarded its prestigious Bella Rangal Callan Award for Student of the Year to Zahara Cuenca.
The award acknowledges outstanding achievement throughout an educational career.
In September 2009 Cuenca will graduate with distinction from University College Birmingham (UCB) where she was studying for an MA in Tourism Destination Management sponsored by the Spanish National Tourism Board.
She was nominated by Sally Ievers, postgraduate programme manager at UCB.
In addition to the MA, taken in her second language as Spanish is her first, Cuenca was learning Portuguese and also completing her last module for the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing.
In May 2009, she took up a role as account executive at Lotus UK, a London-based marketing and PR consultancy specialising in the travel sector. Currently she is working on the Spanish theme park account Port Aventura.
She said: “I am really honoured to win this award. The ITT is held in such high esteem so it is wonderful to be recognised by such a respected organisation. I am now greatly enjoying the challenge of putting my knowledge to good use at Lotus UK and seeing how the travel industry works on a day to day basis.â€
