JAL resuming Seattle flights after decades-long hiatus
Japan Airlines is boosting its transpacific route network with another route to the US West Coast.
It will link Tokyo Narita and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport starting on 31 March 2019.
It becomes JAL’s sixth West Coast route between Japan and North America.
"We are pleased to announce the introduction of the Seattle-Narita route. Along with our joint business partner, American Airlines, we look forward to welcoming more visitors to Asia for business or pleasure," said Tadashi Fujita, JAL executive vice president.
JAL last previously served SeaTac but pulled out in the early 1990s.
The route is also served by rival All Nippon Airways and Delta Air Lines.
The daily Dreamliner flight expands JAL’s codeshare partnership with Seattle based Alasak Airlines and also forms part of JAL’s joint venture business with American Airlines.
"This new route will strengthen American and JAL’s joint business across the Pacific and meet the growing demand in the Seattle-Tokyo market," said American Airlines president Robert Isom.
"Our customers in Seattle will soon have nonstop service to one of the world’s most important business and leisure destinations, as well as convenient connections to many other cities in Asia."
