Japan based Mitsui Ocean Cruises eyes North America
Japanese cruise line Mitsui Ocean Cruises is formally entering the North American customer market.
For the first time in its long history, Mitsui will market and sell directly to US and Canadian customers.
The company has teamed up with Virtuoso member Architects of Travel which has rolled out sales and marketing across North America to increase awareness of the cruise line.
The cruise line operates the 458-guest all-suite ship Mitsui Ocean Fuji, which was previously the Seabourn Odyssey.
The ship features four dining outlets, bars and lounges, swimming pools, western and Japanese entertainment and a spa.
“With Japan a top destination to visit from North America, we’re in a unique position to offer a one-of-a-kind cruise vacation which represents true Japanese experiences that only a Japanese company can provide,” said Anthony Kaufman, head of commercial strategies at Mitsui Ocean Cruises.
The line offers Japan cruises as well as between Singapore and Hong Kong.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Mitsui Ocean Cruises, delivering a ‘travel like a local’ experience while sharing Japan’s time-honored hospitality with our North American cruise customers,” said Suzy Fragnoli, of Architects of Travel.
Nearly three million Americans visited Japan last year.
