Jestar bungles the baggage!
Jetstar suffer a major bungle at the Sunshine Coast Airport on Saturday night with 430 Jetstar passengers stranded without their luggage for 24 hours all because a fork lift broke down!
Passengers on four flights, two in and two out of Sydney and Melbourne, were stranded without their belongings when the Jetstar operated and maintained forklift device that unloads baggage containers broke down, but there was no second machine to replace it or any contingency plan to combat the problem.
Jetstar says that it will now launch a full investigation into the incident, with staff in three airports scrambled to return passengers’ luggage by yesterday afternoon
Jetstar Corporate Affairs spokesperson Simone Pregellio told local newspapers that they were dreadfully sorry for the inconvenience and that airline staff have been working overtime to match people up with their bags as soon as we could and to prevent any further inconvenience.
She added that Jetstar had offered the passengers taxi vouchers to and from the airports so they can come and collect their bags and if there was any further inconvenience, then they will address that if people choose to contact them and also they will be investigating how to avoid the problem happening again.
Passengers flying to Sydney and Melbourne had their bags couriered to them while Maroochydore-based passengers were contacted by phone to retrieve their luggage.
The forklift was operational yesterday and no further flights were affected.
