Jet Airways’ loyalty programme rebrands
Jet Airways’ loyalty programme Jet Privilege Pvt Ltd has rebranded to InterMiles.
The programme has about 10 million former Jet Airways members and will revamp its business model.
It is still an operating business even though Jet Airways has been shuttered since April this year, and is majority owned by Etihad Airways.
Until then, JPmiles could only be earned or redeemed on Jet Airways, Etihad and a handful of partner airlines via the Jet Privilege store.
Since Jet Airways’ demise, it is now focussing on becoming a travel and lifestyle loyalty programme and is touting a network of more than 150 programme partners.
This will encompass airlines, hotels, travel experiences, dining, shopping and fuel purchases.
"Our growth plan is focused on aggregating more benefits and simplifying access to growing experiences and rewards," said Manish Dureja, managing director, Jet Privilege Pvt. Ltd.
The programme is unaffected by Jet Airways’ long drawn-out insolvency process, said Dureja.
However, the name change is obviously a reaction to the airline’s troubles and wants to sever all ties with it in order to move forward.
Jet Privilege was the one area of the airline’s business that was profitable.
Meanwhile, South America based Synergy Group has requested a second extension to finalise a bid to take over bankrupt Jet Airways.
It may well be granted by creditors as Synergy Group is the only bidder.
Failure to reach a deal with Synergy will likely see Jet Airways’ few remaining assets liquidated.
