Jet2 staff to be rewarded with profit share scheme
Jet2 parent Dart Group is to introduce a profit sharing scheme next year as a reward for those who have been with the company for at least 12 months.
The discretionary scheme, to be launched on April 1, 2018, will be open to those staff who don’t already participate in a performance-related bonus or commission scheme.
The profit share will be calculated at a rate of 5% of pre-tax profit, excluding foreign currency revaluations and other exceptional items. It will be paid in proportion to each colleague’s basic salary, with the first payment made in July 2019.
The announcement was made as the Dart Group revealed a 14% drop in pre-tax profit last year, which it attributed mainly to the cost of opening two new bases at Birmingham and Stansted in March.
The group made £90.1 million before tax to March 31, 2017 after taking into account a £10.9 million charge for foreign exchange revaluation losses.
It said package holiday sales had risen 42% to account for 49% of its total leisure travel sales. The percentage taking all-inclusive packages rose from 39% to 41%.
At £617, the average selling price of its packages was £1 ahead of last year, but the net ticket price per passenger fell 5% to £86.65 and the average load factor slipped from 92.5% the previous year to 91.5%.
