JetBlue flight diverts after man bites other passengers
Yet another bizarre incident of in-flight unruly behavior forced a flight to divert.
A man was taken into custody on Sunday after JetBlue flight 1224, headed to New York from Los Angeles, was rerouted to Las Vegas.
The unprovoked attack began suddenly after the unnamed man began biting his travel companions and then started hitting out at other passengers.
He was restrained with help from other passengers after doctors tried to assist but were also attacked.
One fellow passenger who gave only his first name Tom, said: "I grabbed his hands behind his back and held him there while the flight attendants put the restraints on him. At that point, he started yelling and tried to come towards the flight attendant, behind me, at the time. I really had a hell of a time keeping him in place there."
JetBlue said the unruly passenger was removed at Las Vegas and taken into custody.
After a delay the flight continued on to New York and landed without incident, JetBlue said.
Airport authorities said no charges have been filed yet.
There were 9,837 unruly and abusive passenger incidents on flights last year, IATA reported recently.
