JetBlue flights to get Amazon Prime video streaming

Tuesday, 06 May, 2015 0

Amazon and JetBlue have teamed up to stream Amazon’s Prime Video package through the carrier’s  Fly-Fi internet service.

JetBlue passengers who are existing Amazon Prime members can stream thousands of movies and TV episodes free of charge along with more than one million songs on Prime Music.

Non members will be able to buy or rent movie and music content during the flight.

The service is available on all Fly-Fi installed Airbus A321 and A320 aircraft this year and on Embraer E190 aircraft in 2016.

"Working with JetBlue to provide high-speed Internet access that can support instant streaming, at no cost, is a great advantage to travelers," says Amazon vice president of digital video, Michael Paull.

"We’re thrilled JetBlue is the first airline we’re working with for an inflight streaming video entertainment experience."

The Fly-Fi service is free for all passengers at speeds of 12 to 20 Mbps, JetBlue says, but it does charge for some bandwidth heavy activities such as video downloads or file transfers.
