Jetstar Asia extends grounding of all flights
Singapore based low cost carrier Jetstar Asia is extending its closure for another month until May 19.
Last month it grounded its entire fleet of 18 Airbus jets until April 15.
It was one of the first airlines in Asia to completely cease all operations.
Customers with booked tickets for the affected dates will be given a credit voucher which can be exchanged for a later date but is advising customers not to call its reservations help line just now due to long call wait times.
"As border restrictions across the region remain firmly in place and with the Singapore Government introducing new stricter measures to prevent the spread of covid-19, Jetstar Asia will extend the suspension of all scheduled services," the airline said in a statement.
According to chief executive Barathan Pasupathi the airline has helped more than one-third of its furloughed crew members find temporary jobs.
