JFK security workers threatening strike for Christmas week
Associated Press reports that security guards at JFK International Airport are threatening to walk off the job at Christmas time.
Around 300 security workers vote today on whether or not to authorize a strike. These workers man security positions around gates, tarmac and terminals. If the strike is approved, the workers would walk off the job on December 20th, just before Christmas, one of the busiest travel times of the year. If flights are delayed or cancelled because of the action, connecting flights around the country could be affected.
Air Serve and Global Elite Group are the two companies employing security workers considering the strike. At issue are job conditions, training and hourly wages.
