Jobs on the line at United
Huge job cuts are likely at United Airlines under a restructuring plan.
The US carrier’s chief executive Glenn Tilton declined to confirm reports of 6,000 job losses, equivalent to about 10% of the workforce.
But speaking at and industry event in Brussels, he said: “There will be a significant number of staff reductions as part of a $655 million cost-cutting programme the company is currently working on.”
According to news agency Reuters, Mr Tilton said it was too early to say how many jobs would be lost.
