Kiwis looking for indigenous experiences
Visitors from New Zealand are increasingly looking to experience Australia’s indigenous culture, according to Tourism Australia.
Latest figures show that there has been a 31 percent increase in New Zealand visitors experiencing indigenous tourism activities.
“Kiwis are increasingly looking for Aboriginal tours, art and performances to sample a culture that dates back 40,000 years,” Vito Anzelmi, Tourism Australia’s Regional Manager for New Zealand, said.
“All of Australia’s states and territories offer unique indigenous experiences which cater for every type of traveller, especially New Zealanders who usually seek more unusual cultural experiences.”
Of all international visitors to Australia, 90 percent who did not partake in an indigenous experience indicated that they would like to do so when they return.
Tourism Australia said Australia has more than 300 authentic and inspiring Aboriginal experiences to offer visitors.
