Korean Air exec jailed over ‘nut rage’ incident
The daughter of an airline chairman has been jailed for a year over a ‘nut rage’ incident.
Heather Cho, also known as Hyun-ah, who was a former executive of Korean Air, was found guilty of breaking aviation law in a South Korean court.
She was jailed for one year, avoiding a possible maximum sentence of 10 years.
A Korean Air plane was leaving JFK Airport for Seoul on December 5 when witnesses say Ms Cho became angry over macadamia nuts being served in a bag and not a bowl.
She ordered the plane to return to the gate and offload the chief steward.
But the judge rejected that argument saying the plane was ‘in flight’.
