Korean Air vows to improve handling of unruly passengers after in-flight incident
Korean Air has pledged to improve how it deals with violent and unruly passengers after coming under fire for the way its crew dealt with a recent incident.
American singer Richard Marx and his wife, model Daisy Fuentes, shared their concerns on social media after witnessing crew struggling to control a disruptive passengers on a flight from Hanoi to Seoul.
Marx said air stewards were ill-trained and ill-equipped, and claimed they didn’t know how to use the taser or how to secure ropes when the passenger struck out at fellow passengers and crew.
Korean Air subsequently issued a statement saying it would react more firmly and actively against in-flight violence in the future.
It also promised to step up staff training and hire more male air stewards, ensuring there is at least one on duty for each flight.
It said it would also improve its ‘conditions and procedure’ on using taser guns.
