La Manga promotes sport for kids

A junior sailing camp will launch at Spain’s La Manga Club at the end of this month.

The resort’s new all-inclusive break from April 27 to May 1 is available to boys and girls aged 10 to 15 and costs €750 (£680; US$878 approx).

The five-day programme will take place on the famous Mar Menor on the Costa Calida coast and features tuition, training and advice on all aspects of sailing from La Manga Club’s team of experts.

In addition, the package also includes full board accommodation – based on two children sharing a room – in the venue’s fully serviced four-star Las Lomas Village apartments, with a 10% discount available for parents staying in the apartments or the resort’s five-star hotel.

Tar Menor is the largest salt lake in Europe, measuring 22 miles long and 180 square kms in total.

Spanish Volvo Ocean Race sailor Diego Fructuoso recently became an ambassador for La Manga Club.

Sailing is just one of the sports on offer to children at the resort.

Youngsters can enhance their skills at a number of other first-class academies run by the resort, including tennis, cricket, rugby and football.

The Real Madrid Junior Football Academy will be staged for the second year running in July and, after a successful debut in 2012, and the Michael Owen Rugby Academy will return for a four-week spell during July and August.

Daley Thompson’s Adventure Fitness company will also be back  to hold its popular athletics courses overseen by world-class athletes.
