Lack of visitors gave it 40 whacks
Scratch one less US museum: the owner of the Salem, Mass., “40 Whacks Museum” shut it down, saying it was not making enough money in the winter months to cover high maintenance costs.
The museum was dedicated to Lizzie Borden, a former site of the infamous murders. She was charged with the murders of her father and stepmother in 1892 but was acquitted when the case went to trial.
"We’re disappointed," owner Leonard Pickel said. "We were trying to be different and bring people to Salem."
"There was a lot information presented. It was a crash course in what happened," Pickel said.
