Lastminute.com enhances pact with TheTrainline
Rail users making online bookings through TheTrainline will be offered hotel deals matching their destinations under an extended partnership with lastminute.com. Ultimately, customers using TheTrainline will be able to build entire travel and leisure packages as a range of other options such as theatre tickets and restaurant reservations are added by lastminute.com. The initial functionality to allow rail and hotel bookings to be made simultaneously through an XML feed from lastminute.com to TheTrainline is due to become available by Easter. Under the agreement lastminute.com becomes the exclusive provider of hotel content to TheTrainline site. TheTrainline claims to account for 10% of all UK rail bookings and expects to sell eight million tickets this year. The company expects high demand for accommodation as 75% of rail bookings cover at least one night away. Report by Phil Davies
