Libra confirms name change

Thursday, 03 Apr, 2008 0

Libra Holidays UK has changed its company name to Allbury Travel Group following new ownership of the operator.

As part of the repositioning of the business, new private investors have taken a majority stake in the company. Libra Group Cyprus is now a minority shareholder.

The new name reflects the change in the ownership of the business and better reflects the group’s portfolio of specialist travel brands including: Libra Holidays UK, Enable Holidays, Sky Holidays, PriceRight Flights and the recently acquired brands of Argo Holidays, and Jetlife, according to the company.

All brands within Allbury Travel Group have full ATOL bonding and approval from the Civil Aviation Authority.

All bookings made with the company under its previous brand names as above will be honoured, and all travellers remain protected by the bond arrangements of Allbury Travel Group.

A new senior management team has been appointed with Michael East as chairman, and  Eamonn Ferrin, previously managing director of BCT Travel Group, part of MyTravel Group, as chief executive. Sanjay Shah, previously financial controller at Libra Holidays UK, becomes financial director; and Steve Heapy joins as product and commercial director from Thomas Cook, where he was managing director, Thomas Cook scheduled division.

East and Ferrin were appointed as consultants in November 2007 to reposition the company and its trading, which have been achieved successfully. In February 2008 they acquired the brands and assets of Argo Holidays and Jetlife to add to the portfolio of specialist brands.

Ferrin said: “Allbury Travel Group now has several terrific brands and a range of products in Libra Holidays, Argo Holidays and Jetlife covering both the charter and scheduled FIT markets, which fit together extremely well.

“We have set realistic trading targets for 2008 and beyond, and look forward to working with our very good trading partners, who have been informed of the changes, to make this a successful year.”

East said: “The senior management team at Allbury Travel Group has a track record of excellence in leadership and turning businesses around. We are all excited about the potential of the newly focussed company to offer improved structure and direction to our strong portfolio of brands.”
