Lion World Tours President named first recipient of new travel award
Lucille Sive, President of Lion World Tours, was the first recipient of The Travel Corporation’s prestigious new Mike Ness award in Cape Town, South Africa.
Brett Tollman, Global CEO of The Travel Corporation (TTC), explained the award is “presented to an individual within The Travel Corporation who exemplifies aggressiveness in finding new sources of business, living ‘never say never’ and who has an outstanding bottom-line focus."
Over the past 25 years, Sive has built Lion World Tours into one of the largest tour operators in North America specializing in Southern and East Africa.
Sive is known as a hands-on operator, and visits Southern and East Africa regularly to meet with suppliers to strengthen business relationships. She often accompanies groups to South Africa, which is an added benefit to those in the group, as she has such diverse and in-depth knowledge of the country, says the operator.
Sive will be escorting a large educational tour to South Africa at the end of March, 2011.
During the 2010 conference, TTC and South African Tourism (SAT) announced their two-year partnership to promote Destination South Africa.
Tollman outlined the partnership between TTC and SAT during a Conference presentation, explaining that the partnership will utilize cooperative marketing and promotion across all of SAT’s global target markets.
Travel Agent magazine in 2003 called Sive "One of the most powerful women in travel." She was also dubbed "The African Queen" by Canadian Travel Courier in 2005 when she appeared on the front cover.
For over forty years, Lion World Tours has demonstrated its expertise in Southern and East Africa and has become known for what they call their "affordable luxury."
