London-Ottawa: Air Transat’s new ‘capital’ link to lure British visitors from May 2026

Tuesday, 14 Apr, 2026 0

Award-winning Canadian leisure carrier Air Transat is to launch in May 2026 three weekly services between London Gatwick and Ottawa, providing an opportunity to discover one of Canada’s most unique cities.

Coming 15 May 2026, Air Transat, named World’s Best Leisure Airline 2025 by Skytrax for the seventh time, is launching non-stop flights from London Gatwick to Ottawa, operating three times a week on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

The airline has also announced its ‘See it for real’ spring sale inviting UK travellers to experience Canada, including Ottawa, for less. For a limited time, Brits can enjoy fares from just £369* per person return for travel on select dates between 7 April and 16 December 2026, when booked by 27 April 2026.

Explore Ottawa with Air Transat through the seasons

Air Transat’s new route is a perfect opportunity to discover Ottawa, Canada’s capital and fourth largest city, where Victorian and contemporary architecture, culture and natural beauty meet. Fly direct from London Gatwick and explore iconic landmarks, seven of nine national museums, refined dining and outdoor adventure in one unforgettable city escape.

Visitors can explore Parliament Hill, cruise the city’s iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site Rideau Canal, which stretches 200km from Ottawa to Kingston, and step inside the Canadian Museum of History. They can walk or cycle over 800km of scenic pathways woven through the city – where culture and nature meet at every turn. Now is the perfect time for UK travellers to plan their Canadian escape.

In spring, Ottawa bursts into colour as over a million tulips bloom across the capital, a lasting gift from the Netherlands, celebrated with the Canadian Tulip Festival (8th – 18th May 2026). Fewer crowds and fresh energy make it the ideal time to experience the cultural heart of Canada.

Summer reveals Ottawa at its most dynamic. Waterfront patios, festivals and cycling trails create an effortless blend of urban energy and outdoor adventure, offering a uniquely Canadian capital experience in one compact city.

Come Autumn, Ottawa transforms into a spectacle of vivid reds and golds during Fall Rhapsody, one of Canada’s most celebrated foliage seasons. With cultural depth and legendary Canadian landscapes in one destination, fall is a refined and memorable time to explore the capital.

Year-round flights to Canada

The addition of the new Ottawa service in May 2026, will take the total number of direct flights operated by Air Transat from the UK to Canada up to 34 per week in the peak season, including non-stop Toronto and Montreal services. UK travellers can also connect to popular destinations including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg through Air Transat’s partnership with Porter, as well as Air Transat-operated connections to Punta Cana and Cancun.
